It's been an amazing journey learning with Rod. I am not a seasonal painter and am mostly self taught, but I thought I knew the basic's. I decided to pick up my paints again about a year ago and got invited by a friend to join the art course with Rod. I enrolled late but Rod generously allowed me to join. I found his teaching method relaxing, so took all the stress out if delivering a 'perfect' painting. His generosity continued as he shared his knowledge.

The Moore Method of Painting is simplistic and easy to understand and if applied, works. For me the lesson on shapes and values, set me free of a fear of not doing 'the object' any justice. The ability to see the object as a combination of shapes rather than a 'thing' simplified the process of presenting a complete picture.

The fact that we painted an entire picture with just the three primaries - Blue, Red and Yellow was challenging and 'wow'!

The entire art course and process was liberating and fun...

Thank you Rod for a very pleasant, eye opening journey back into my paint world!!!

Year 2021, cosmos directed me to embark on my art journey by introducing me to Rod Moore and Learn to Paint Academy. I joined for one short course in Moore Method of Painting (MMOP). Magic happened.

With Rod’s guidance I began to realize my dream to paint with ease, confidence and joy. MMOP was like an awakening. The 3 steps, 3 colours and 3/4 brushes - the technique is so simple & effective that one feels liberated. It is easy on every art aspirant and has no boundaries. The overwhelming energy of such a simple process is elevating.

The course and Rod’s teaching was so motivating that I joined the Academy as a life member, one of the best decisions of my life. The MMOP and all other courses are so comprehensive the one does not need to look any further. My art journey from realism to Impressionism has been worth every brushstroke.

The Learn to Paint Academy fosters amazing amity, encouragement and friendship among the members all over the world. This painting is a living proof of the growth I have undergone as an artist under the auspice of a fun teacher, Rod Moore.

Thank you very much Rod.

The Rod Moore Method of Painting has been and continues to be foundational for me. The lessons are broad and deep. I also enjoy and appreciate returning to the basics with the painting challenges which are tenderly and carefully guided by Rod.

Rod’s approach reduces the overwhelm, the method reduces confusion and the “push on through” attitude, time and time again, builds confidence.

I have adopted his motto “Just Have A Go” in my painting adventures, in my life and I am keen to share this motto with others.

Many thanks to Rod of the Rod Moore Method of Painting.

Three steps, three colors plus white, and three brushes is all I needed to create this painting with the guidance of Rod Moore at the Learn to Paint Academy. (LTPA). The Moore Method of Painting is as simple as that. No so called talent required.

Simply a desire to create and Rod’s simple method of teaching will get you there. His method has shown me that I can become an artist! After taking up a few of his challenges and seeing what I could create with his method I joined the LTPA.

I now have the ability and confidence to continue my art journey using The Moore Method of Painting.

Thoroughly enjoyed my 1st week of painting.

I am so grateful I found the Moore Method of Painting. As a newly retired person and self taught artist it is my goal to perfect my craft. These classes have taught me to see things as shapes and not objects and I now have a better understanding of mixing colours and determining the right values as well as the importance of cool and warm colours.

Most of all I have had fun and haven’t gotten hung up on all the details. So long as I can find one good thing from each painting then I will have the ability to grow.

Thank you to all of the wonderful comments from other painters. Without encouragement it’s easy to give up. Here’s to completing my first 100 paintings.

My name is Ann Burke. I live in Ireland and have painted off and on for 15 ,20 years .I have tried painting landscape and seascape over the years but they always looked flat and didn't look right.

I joined the Learn to Paint Academy in 2020. In the beginning I painted along with Rod, and I did make some progress. Problem was I didn't know what I was doing.

Then I did the Fundamentals which was a real learning curve for me. Composition and design, colour mixing and values were what gave me the answers to why my painting were flat and looked wrong..ohh what mistakes I was making before these courses.

It taught me how to simplify the composition into shapes, put the shapes in right place, use dark to light and much more. I now follow the advanced courses with more knowledge of what I am doing.

I love the challenges because they bring me back to basics and keeps me motivated.

Thank you Rod for your generous time and knowledge.

Amazing experience with Learn to Paint Academy's every challenge. I have been participating since July 2020. Also joined as life member after the 2nd challenge.

It was the best gift to myself.

Rod is an amazing teacher, mentor. Love his words “have a go and have fun”. I learned a lot from Rod even basic color mix, values and best of Moore Method of Painting.

Thanks Rod for what you do for the painting community.

Looking forward to attend upcoming challenges.

Happy Painting . ♥️

I was totally shocked at what I have learnt and achieved in only two weeks. Rod Moore's teaching is so encouraging, easy to understand, and fun.

His approach has managed to teach me a systematic process of painting, I was struggling to put into practice all the competing theories before.

I have been learning to paint for the past three years. I've taken many courses and worked with other artists.

I can honestly say Rod Moore has boomeranged my art to another level in just two weeks. I'm super excited to learn more from Rod in the future.

Hello from Ontario, Canada.

This was my first time with Rod and his learn to paint challenge. I am a total beginner, and loved it immensely, learned so much.

I always thought that in order to paint you had to have some sort of talent born into you, but realized that anyone can learn, and if you want to get better it helps to take lessons......and above all, practice, practice and practice.

Renal failure has led me to early retirement.

As a way to stop stressing about dialysis and needing a transplant i started painting.

Rod's Learn to Paint Academy has been an amazing resource and I have loved participating in my first challenge.

No masterpiece but who knows what the future will bring!

Thanks Rod

I found Rod Moore just over a year ago. This started my painting journey and loving it ever since.

Following the Moore Method has given me the confidence to have a go. With a limited pallet, a few brushes, get shapes and values right, I feel I can tackle anything.

I find the Moore Method simplifies the painting process into 3 steps which makes completing a painting achievable. I continue to have so much fun doing what I always have wished I could.

With the skills I keep learning I gain more confidence and are still improving.

Like many frustrated would-be artists I found that Rod's “Moore Method of Painting” provided the perfect and most practical foundation for developing my artistic capabilities.

His basic, three colours, three brushes, approach is the best way of learning to paint that I have seen anywhere. Anyone can become a proficient artist if they apply themselves to the MMOP easy to follow lessons.

The most benefits I derived from Rod’s teaching were how to properly mix colours using a limited palette and how to loosen up my brushwork.

Thank you Rod for giving so many of us the opportunity to realise our potential.

I joined the Learn to Paint Academy as a lifetime member after participating in one of Rod's online challenges. This resulted in the fulfilment of a long held desire to learn how to paint.

I have gone from an absolute beginner to selling my art and confidently exhibiting at local galleries and museums.

The online supportive artists community Rod has fostered is a joy, which is a reflection of his skilled tutorship and how he has made learning how to paint so much fun!

When I was a little girl, I used to paint with my grandmother from an instruction book. It was the best of times to have our easels side by side and putting color on canvas boards according to the instructions in the book. It was fun to see how our paintings compared when we were finished. Of course, I thought my grandma’s paintings were masterpieces, but I was proud of mine, too. She always made me feel that my paintings were just as beautiful as hers. I was just sure I was meant to grow up to become an artist.

I never forgot that and I told my dad that I was going to major in art when I went to college. Unfortunately, his response was that I would never make enough to support myself with an art career. So off I went to become a school teacher instead. And then life happened—marriage, children (including twins), several “careers”, taking care of my mother when she became ill, and singing with various groups.

Fast forward a few decades until I discovered Rod Moore and the Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) on Facebook during the pandemic. I found a few other art teachers at the same time, but Rod was the only one who kept my attention. He made me feel as if I could paint. I didn’t think twice about joining his painting challenge. There was nothing else to do—no singing, no club meetings, nothing. What did I have to lose? The challenge was free!

I joined the LTPA at the end of that first challenge, and I have been applying the principles of the Moore Method of Painting to develop each painting. Before Rod taught me the basics, I would look at a scene, and have a desire to paint it, but had no clue where to begin so I gave up before I even tried.

Thanks to Rod Moore and the methods he teaches, I’ve learned to become more daring than I thought possible. I’m able to tackle painting from photographs or a scene from my imagination without painting along with an instructor. Color mixing has become one of my favorite things to do, and I’m really good at it! Recently I branched out to painting scenes from the Sonoran Desert which surrounds my home. This past March I was invited to display my paintings at a local art fair, and was shocked that I sold 4 paintings. Art by Lindy Kay was born because of the art fair.

My husband has been my biggest fan and supporter. My family and friends can attest that I feel the need to paint almost daily. If I’m not painting, I’m watching painting videos or studying photos or works of art. Best of all, my daughters really didn’t take my painting seriously until they came to help me set up at the art fair. I heard one of them say, “Wow, Mom’s paintings are really good!” Although that’s music to my ears, there’s constant room for improvement. I’m so glad there are so many lessons in the LTPA that I’ll have many opportunities to practice and grow into becoming a more confident artist.

I wasn’t able to complete the current challenge because I had surgery to replace 3 disks in my cervical spine (neck) replaced with brand, new titanium disks along with a plate and screws for stability. I have a rather long recovery ahead, but I began painting slowly as soon as I got the go ahead from my doctor. I didn’t make it past this painting before the challenge ended.

The painting I am holding may seem very simplistic, but it demonstrates the basics:

• Getting the big shapes correct and placing them in the correct place on the painting surface

• Identifying the range of values from dark to light

• Mixing a dark color from 3 paint colors—blue, yellow, and red

• Lightening up the dark color by adding white to create varying medium to light colors

I’ve begun blocking in the next painting in the challenge, and will pick it up again inside the Learn to Paint Academy as I recover and get accustomed to my new titanium disks.

Gaynor Bridgens

UK

“Blocking in” in the Moore Method of Painting was, and still is, an absolute revelation! You could say a eureka moment in my painting journey thus far. My paintings before were always disappointingly flat. I found it so frustrating that I didn’t know how to bring things to life.

Then I happened on Rod Moore. After following one of his challenges everything changed for me so that I can at least produce a painting I feel happy with.

Using a limited palette starting out is so helpful. Learning to colour mix from just three primary colours and white teaches you so much about the values of the colours you use. Depth perception is a tricky thing to master, but the Moore Method breaks it down into bite size chunks that are easy to follow, but more importantly gives you the confidence to just have a go. I joined the Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) and have never looked back.

I started with the Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) in 2018 and have learned so much in a very short space of time.

Now, I teach the Moore Method of Painting (MMOP) as an Moore Certified Instructor (MCI) and it is an absolute joy to pass on what I have learnt, and see the faces and results of my students.

I joined the Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) just over two years ago as a mature person with no obvious talent for painting in any medium. I had enjoyably dabbled on a couple of occasions, over a period of 40 years and had certainly registered a mental interest in painting as a hobby. What I had in my favour upon joining, was more time (due to semi-retirement, a grown up family etc.,), an interest and enthusiasm to give it a go.

I did not join the LTPA on a whim I must admit. This decision was based upon several contingencies, including two years of COVID restrictions, other online "teaching" sites available and my personal art journey requirements.

What I found when I applied the concepts embedded in the Moore Method of Painting (MMOP) was they were so simple and so clearly articulated that even I could perceive myself as being an artist. I could and have improved my technique in leaps and bounds, albeit with numerous less than optimal results - all of which have taught me, using the MMOP critiquing skills to find something to improve upon.

Ultimately, Rod Moore's personal presentation style, the positive and encouraging International Art Community he had grown, all the while refining and developing his own artistic style, played a huge part in my decision to join as a Life Member of the LTPA and now the Artist Business Academy (ABA). I sincerely doubt that I will ever regret that decision.

History records that great people are often humble ones. I believe that Rod is truly a great person.

I began The Moore Method in May 2021. I wanted to learn to paint and needed the basics. The Moore Method gave me a foundation and techniques that can be used for painting wonderful art.

Going through the courses teaches skills that have definitely helped me become a better painter. My growth and development of creating better artwork has been amazing to me. I sometimes look at my work and am totally astonished that I painted that.

I’m still learning and growing through the Moore Method. It’s been a wonderful journey and I’ll continue to apply all that I’m learning.

I have always wanted to paint, but life got in the way, or at least I thought it did. While caring for my hubby during a long illness, I stumbled across a Facebook painting challenge by Rod Moore.

Having stared forlornly at a blank canvas previously, somehow too afraid to make that first mark, I didn't hold much hope for myself, but took the plunge.

Rod's relaxed, generous, humorous, Aussie style was instantly appealing. His simple approach using his brilliant Moore Method of painting was an eye opener.

I was completely shocked at what I achieved in that first painting. Since then, I have done many fun challenges and this painting is from the most recent.

After the first challenge, I was hooked and became a member of the Learn To Paint Academy. It a wonderful life-changing decision!

It has a thriving, positive, international community to enjoy. It's jam packed with a multitude of brilliant courses, from basic to complex and Rod is adding to them all the time. The bonus for me, is that it's all self-paced modules, perfect with limited time availability.

So, life didn't really get in the way after all. Rod helped me conquer my fear and realise that I really can live my dream to paint.

Around 2018 I came across Rod Moores You Tube channel and after watching a few of them , decided to join up with his Learn To Paint Academy (LTPA), as his method was something I became very interested in.

His simplicity , the limited palette and using only 3 colours plus white was to become my palette. Over the next couple of years and doing all the challenges he put up, my experience level shot up considerably over the pandemic period.

After 70 years of teaching myself, HIS method is by far the best one to follow and learn from.

This learning NEVER stops, the doing of, never stops.... its a bit like housekeeping, but soooo much nicer to do 🙂 . I became a full member of LTPA in 2021 and have not regretted the decision to join his world wide group of beginner artists, to competent and above.

The challenges are exceptionally rewarding and I enjoy the camaraderie, the group and he has, with each other.

Thank you Rod for bringing LTPA about and sharing your knowledge with us all.

I've always loved painting, but where do I start is what people ask.

Finding Rod Moore from the Learn to Paint Academy was the best opportunity ever.

Learning how to see a painting in shapes, mixing colours from a small palette of colours, minimal brushes and Rods tuition and guidance and I've attempted subjects, especially landscapes, that were beyond my limit, or so I thought.. try it, you'll love it.

Be with a great supportive community of artists from beginners to people who sell their work.

I’ve been painting for many years but felt that my work was not improving and lacked something. I came across the Learn to Paint Academy whilst searching through various YouTube art videos trying to find my mojo. I signed up as a life member and started my journey as the world went into lockdown. I have learned so much, found my mojo again and got confident and proud of what I can paint.

The first and probably the best experience with the Moore Method of Painting was to simplify the way I was painting by using the 3 steps, 3 colours and 3 brush method. To go back to the basics of painting.

I learned how to paint ‘looser’ and not to be to set on detail which was my downfall in the past. Being a perfectionist, I wanted each painting to look like a photo. I studied various of the online videos and took part in the challenges, and it taught me to leave something to the imagination and very important not to overthink things.

I now love hearing how people intrepid my paintings in their own way and how each relate to a painting differently because they can fill in the ‘blanks’ with their imagination.

I love the Moore Method of Painting (MMOP). It didn't matter that I was a total beginner, with no art experience when I started, I painted a picture that amazed me and my family. I joined as a Life Member right after that first challenge.

It is a recipe for success. Rod gives you the ingredients, 3 colours plus white, the equipment, 3 brushes and the method, 3 steps. Rod is a fantastic teacher, easy to understand, very patient and so generous sharing his extensive knowledge with his students.

I have progressed to selling quite a few of my paintings on ebay and to getting commissions All thanks to Rod and the MMOP. I am so glad I joined the Learn To Paint Academy. The Community in the LTPA is very nurturing, encouraging, always positive and helpful.

Thank you Rod for LTPA and MMOP.

The Moore Method of Painting has got me into the habit of starting all paintings with an organized and limited palette. This not only builds confidence, it saves time as I paint with acrylics.

The initial blocking-in stage with about half-dozen large shapes—starting with darker values in front and then building toward lighter values in the distance. This is an easily applied formula.

The most important step is to check that the placement, form, and variation of the shapes make a pleasing composition. Once satisfied with this, and only then, will I move onto the details, and finally the self analysis.

I’ve always wanted to paint but thought I needed to be able to master drawing first which never appealed to me and which I had never shown any aptitude in the past! This is why the Moore Method of Painting appealed to me.

Rod explains this in simple terms, with a simple process that is easy to follow. It focuses on a few fundamentals. As a beginner by following this process I immediately saw improvements in my paintings.

As well as being simple to follow it is also fun to paint this way. It’s about having a go and when you enjoy something it makes it a lot easier to practice and improve further.

My art journey began around five years ago in a random and unstructured string of workshops and online courses in drawing and watercolour. A beginner's art course covering a range of mediums introduced me to acrylics, my current medium of choice. Casting round for an acrylic course I chanced upon an introductory video for the Learn to Paint Academy and the Moore Method of Painting. A couple of painting demonstrations later I was hooked and became a Life Member at the end of 2019.

In short, Rod has given me a logical process which I now automatically use for every painting. Alongside this I have learnt the importance of gaining a solid grounding in the fundamentals of painting, such as composition and colour mixing among others, and the need to practice routinely. There is no substitute for brush miles to convert an academic understanding of a principle into practical application on the canvas.

Add to this the supportive worldwide community of artists following the Moore Method of Painting, and I believe you have a winning formula for anyone with the desire and motivation to learn to paint.

I decided to act on my childhood passion for painting once I took retirement from my full-time job. With no formal training and only familiarity with oil paints I started searching for oil painting lessons on internet. The searches brought up many artists, many articles, many videos that created more confusion in my mind. Then, I came across Rod’s five-day challenge of painting Mary River.

The best decision I took was to give it a go. I was impressed and hooked on to the simple method (Moore Method of Painting - MMOP) with simple tools that he taught. That was the first time I understood the fundamentals, colors, color-wheel, chroma, values, and all the artistic terminology.

His method of painting and teaching were not only easy to understand but also easy to follow. Lessons learnt in this challenge gave me amazing results in my own paintings.

The few interactions with Rod and the artists' community he has created were enough for me to decide to become a lifetime member of his Academy, the best investment I made for my love of painting.

That was the beginning of my amazing art journey!

I am so happy to have found Rod Moore and the Learn to Paint Academy. Rod's teaching style won me over as soon as I realised he had an endless willingness to answer questions online. His personal touch meant a lot to me.

This Challenge is a condensed mini review course of the Moore Method of painting. Rod guides one through a clear set of steps to create a painting and adds a fresh set of insights.

I joined as a Lifetime Member so I have lots of work to enjoy to master fundamentals, improve my mindset, use a self critique guide as I develop a painting and enjoy the encouraging camraderie of fellow painters in the Learn to Paint Academy.

A big bonus has been not having to buy the "tree painting brush", all the new amazing paint options and colors and other temptations at the art store.

Rod simplifies so much so you can "have a go" and be happy with your painting results.

A disability took me out of the workforce so I was looking for a challenge. I have quietly watched Rod for a few years and painted a few of the challenges, but it has been some time so I tried this one. Way out of my wheelhouse but I was happy with what I got.

The Learn To Paint Academy is a fantastic resource and Rod's instruction make total sense and really breaks down the process so one can understand, make the attempt and end up with something you can hang on a wall.

Thank you Rod.

I enjoy painting landscapes and seascapes. The Moore Method of Painting has helped me develop my paintings and artwork by following a set of simple clear steps and procedures. I have learnt to analyze a photo picking out a focal point and finding the main shapes in the landscape to draw onto the canvas.

The second step of blocking in the values tones has shown me how to create depth and distance to a painting, thus creating a foreground and distance. I've learnt to step back, slow down and not overdo things in the final step of colour, highlights and details, as well as, using some artistic license.

The best experience I've had with the Moore Method of Painting is that painting is fun and enjoyable. And, with practice the results will show.

Rod's easy going style of teaching, and his knack for boosting students confidence, makes his Moore Method of Painting perfect for me.

It's simple, easy to understand, and starts with the basic foundation for painting in acrylic, oil paint, or gouache. The live sessions are fun - it's great to see so many students across the globe progress in the skill and confidence. The library of lessons available as a member cover so many topics from beginners fundamentals to more advanced skills.

But the biggest reason I rave about Rod, is because he's given me confidence to believe that one day my love of painting will become more than a hobby. My goal is to be able to teach basic beginners in a fun classroom setting, or online.

FLASHBACK - Learn to Paint Academy - Wednesdays Live sessions – Jan 2021

“It was great watching Rod paint – he made it look so easy. I think I did okay in the first two steps – and then I goofed up real bad in step 3 – couldn’t get the trees right !! I think I was rushing it – I got to be more careful in the future. Discarded the painting, later I tried to salvage it. Story of most of my paintings !! I start with something and then end up with something else!! Looks totally different from the reference photo !!”

Did I write that?? Yes !! Seems like ages ago.

Over 2 years have passed since I joined Rod’s academy and I can already see a tremendous improvement in my painting. I have learnt how to achieve aerial perspective and harmony in my paintings. People think I have been painting all my life !! This is all thanks to Rod’s Moore Method of Painting (MMOP).

His theory of simplifying colours-brushes and steps has made me approach even a very complicated subject with great confidence – no more frustrations.

I enjoy the process, have fun and learn something new with every painting just like Rod advises all his students to do.

Discovering Rod Moore and the Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) has changed my life! I’ve always dreamed of learning to Paint but felt I never had any real talent. Joining the LTPA opened the door for me to be on my way to fulfilling my dream.

Rod Moore is an incredible mentor and teacher. His simplified “Moore Method” of three colours and three brushes, works whether you are a beginner, intermediate or experienced painter. Rod is extremely generous in sharing his extensive knowledge and has the gift of being able to transfer it to his students in a friendly, encouraging and humorous way.

I am amazed at what I have been able to accomplish under his tutelage. His motto is “Just give it a go”, those words alone gave me the encouragement and confidence to do just that!

Thank you Rod for all you do for us and for the wonderful community you have created!

I have enjoyed art from my school days and did a bit of painting in my teens but had nothing to inspire me until I came across Rod Moores Art Academy and his method of painting.

It taught me values composition and how to use a limited colour pallette and to just have a go.

It doesn't matter about the outcome as long as you learn and have fun.

Thank you very much Rod for teaching me how to pay attention to the shapes I draw before I put any paint canvas. Many other lessons I've learned such as how to put things in the distance and The importance of values to name a few.

I joined as a full-time member of the LTP academy a number of months ago and have enjoyed the few lessons I've done so far.

Thanks again.

Very much a beginner, living in the UK, I found Rod Moore online a couple of years ago and after joining in a few of the free challenges I signed up as a life member of Learn to Paint Academy.

The Moore Method of Painting and Rod's focus on mastering the fundamentals such as composition and design, values and colour mixing, have been invaluable. The courses available are plentiful and continue to grow and the online community has been so friendly and supportive.

I have improved my skills and confidence in my work so much that, under Rod's guidance, I have progressed from complete beginner to actually selling some of my work to fund more art materials and learning.

Sometimes life gets in the way and I have to step back from my oil and acrylic painting but as soon as I am ready to return I head straight to the courses on fundamentals.

I heard Rod say once that 'practice makes progress' and alongside Rod's help at Learn to Paint Academy, it certainly does!

Rod teaches in a step by step method which I find very helpful. He is easily understood and asks for feedback and questions.

This session included water scenes. I have always had difficulty painting water but feel that my skills are improving, thanks to Rod's instruction.

Using the palette knife was fun too. Thank you, Rod.

Hi, my name is Cristina and I'm a dermatologist in Germany. My profession has not much to do with art, but I've always admired paintings, so a few months ago I decided to give it a try myself.

After watching many painting tutorials on the Internet, it started getting a bit confusing from all the different approaches that I didn't fully understand, so I decided to stick to only one teacher.

I'm so glad that I chose Rod's Learn to Paint Academy, because he breaks the painting process in logical, easy to follow steps and he explains very well the choices that he makes along.

I now can easily build up a painting plan before every new project and the results keep amazing me.

Discovering the Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) a few years ago has been like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Rod's simplified "Moore Method of Painting" has been a revelation in my journey as an artist. He has expertly distilled the skill of painting down into 3 steps, 3 colours and 3 brushes.

This same method works for acrylics, oils and gouache, so wherever I go (whether in the studio, in the field or travelling) I have an amazing arsenal of painting skills at the ready to capture any scene that catches my eye.

Rod is always fun, knowledgeable, supportive, encouraging and straight forward. His attitude is manifest within the LTPA community culture. It has been a wonderful place to connect, learn, grow, laugh, and find new friends and like-minded people to talk all things art - priceless!

Hands down the best thing I've done so far as an emerging artist, and looking forward to life-long learning with the LTPA!

My name is Kerilyn Schaller, I joined the LTPA with Rod after attending an online challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

These past 12 months have been big for me as I was diagnosis Autistic at 58yrs young.

I don’t learn easily but I find Rod to be the most wonderful teacher, with his humour and solid fundamentals I get the results.

Thank you Rod.

I am Julie Mello and I am an artist in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. Without Rod and his Moore Method of painting, I would not be a painter today, it's as simple as that!

I took the online learning approach and found one of Rod's videos at the start... his down to earth, easy to listen to method of teaching just struck a chord with me. Add to that the basics of the Moore Method, 3 colours, 3 brushes, the drawing, block in and finishing approach and I was all in.

I use the Moore Method of painting because it works and is so reliable. Along the way I have discovered the palette knife through one of Rod's many courses and I have grown to love it as an implement to move paint around. I use it a a compliment to the basic foundation of the Moore Method. It's a never ending education!

I never imagined that joining this online program would change my life but it has. It has given me something that I truly love to do.

I sell my work now and I hope that the people who end up with my paintings receive the same sort of joy by owning one of my artworks as I do in creating them.

And it all started because I gained confidence in my painting by having a system that I could, and can, return to again and again and get good results.

I am a retired educator only taking up painting in the last two years. Rod’s generous free challenges gave me the desire to learn more and so I joined the Learn to Paint Academy last year. As a teacher, I appreciate Rod’s method of instruction as he demonstrates technique.

He is consistent, concise and teaches the “why” for each part of the lesson. This 'Start Your Art' challenge especially fueled my desire and interest to get back to the lessons in the Learn to Paint Academy. I confess that as a member I have not taken full advantage of the wealth of information offered there.

Until this challenge I would never have attempted to try painting a waterfall. Rod helped me to understand that it is no different than any other subject.

His consistent message: Identify the big shapes; place them correctly on the canvas; block them in painting the darks first then using the correct values for the others; and then use mid tones and highlights for the details. Using and mixing just the three primary colors, white, black and phthalo green helps to keep the scene in harmony. The final critique and analysis provided the questions necessary for me to let the painting be my teacher.

I am so happy that I had this opportunity to “give it a go” and I am pleased with the result - even though I don’t think the picture renders the colors correctly. I feel like this challenge has given me the courage to attempt other subjects that seem too daunting.

I know I will follow Rod’s advice to practice, practice, practice. I want to move from good to great!

Thank you for sharing your talent. Marilyn

I started painting in 2019 after a major surgery, to pass time and found Rod Moore's free painting course on the net.

It really helps me and I have done all the challenges since. So three and half years later, I'm selling my paintings and attending art fairs, thanks to Rod.

He 's a great teacher and a great motivator.

I had noticed a Rod Moore painting challenge on Facebook just as lockdown started. I had recently retired and was keen to get back into painting as a hobby artist and wanted to learn more about acrylics to start off with.

I did the challenge and learned so much from that so I had a short think about paying for life membership and decided I was going to gain more experience and took that leap of faith. I have never regretted doing this and have progressed so much.

I no longer feel afraid to display my artwork and am not so self critical anymore. I love spending time painting and have done several challenges since, learning every step of the way.

The Moore Method of Painting was game changing for me and I can honestly say I have never looked back. I also enjoy looking at everyone else's paintings through the challenges, the paintings are all quite different even though we can be painting the same landscapes.

Rod's simple three step Moore Method of Painting, taught with such enthusiasm and encouragement has enabled me to go from a complete beginner to selling my work and exhibiting at local galleries and museums.

The online community Rod has fostered is also very supportive and a wonderful place to further my art journey.

Loved the Moore Method of Painting experience… I Learnt how to be brave, and give it a go.

I learnt how to start a painting and everything in between to actually completing it. Very valuable tools and tricks I will be taking with me into my future artwork.

Thanks a lot Rod.

I've started painting just recently, not counting the drawing courses in primary school some 40 years ago.

Finding Rod's Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) on the web was a real treasure for me. The vast amount of extremly useful video courses just cover every aspects of painting how-tos that I wanted to know. And much more!

Besides the video courses the friendly and supportive LTPA community provides continuous encouragement.

My Art Journey

I did art at high school and loved it but left thinking that I was not an artist as I could not paint in the abstract expressionism that was encouraged in the 1970’s. Ever since then I have pursued my creative urges through craft work, teaching and music.

In July 2021 I was challenged to write down some selfcare goals. What came out of my pen was “Leave work and paint” Realising I didn’t know what I was doing, I went looking on the internet, did some follow along tutorials, and finally found Learn to Paint Academy.

I signed up on a yearly subscription, began the foundations courses and then did my first challenge in the October. I became a life member. I have note books full of information and advice!

I was so inspired and being given the step by step, simple methods, foundational principals of composition, colour mixing, values, aerial perspective, brushwork to name a few, plus tutorials on line, my paintings started to improve and this inspired me even further.

Rod’s down to earth approach and sense of humor make for an achievable and enjoyable painting experience. My very first painting was a waterfall too but my skills have developed in leaps and bounds in just 18 months since I started painting using the Moore Method of Painting.

I’ve always wanted to paint but did not have any natural talent so never bothered. One day I stumbled across The Moore Method of Painting online and thought maybe I can do this. I did one challenge and discovered the simplicity and joy of art! I joined as a life member and haven’t looked back.

Rod has taught me so much and he is easy to follow with the minimum of materials. Basically, Rod freed me from the notion that I could not paint.

Well, guess what? I CAN paint and I’m loving it. I have gone from knowing nothing to feeling confident to tackle almost anything.

Thanks so much Rod Moore.

I've always wanted to paint but have not had much time to devote to learning the techniques, or finer arts, of this pursuit. Having five children, then going to university as a mature age student to get my doctorate in psychology might have impacted what spare time I had.

I collected art materials over the years and they got put into a cupboard and half forgotten about. My children are all good artists and I felt a little envious that they could follow their hearts in this area.

Once I retired from a busy private practice, coupled with an academic role, I realised I could now learn to paint. But how did I find a good teacher?

A friend invited me to one of her art classes in Melbourne (two hours away from where I now live) and I managed to paint a reasonable seascape, which felt like a one-off because I didn't have any knowledge of what techniques to use to replicate the first painting.

In 2020, during the pandemic, I started to view YouTube videos on watercolour projects and started to make Christmas cards and personal greeting cards. I also found a YouTube video of Rod Moore giving a tutorial on painting an acrylic landscape using his method and it turned out ok :).

I must have got onto his email list, and received an email about a challenge called Kick Start Your Art in January 2021. I joined that, with my heart in my mouth, wondering if I'd found what I was looking for...someone who could teach me the fundamentals of how to paint.

It turned out that it was the best thing I could have done. Rod's method of teaching, The Moore Method of Painting (MMOP), is very easy to follow and Rod is an excellent teacher. The MMOP ensures that I can replicate what I've done every time and keep improving.

In one year, I went from being a beginner to now selling my art works. Amazing!

Thank you Rod for teaching me, and encouraging me to have a go; after all, it's just paint!

I started painting in 2020 with my grandchildren during lockdown and I have never painted before!

I found a free painting challenge with Rod Moore and his Learn to Paint Academy on Facebook and loved his wonderful, easy way of teaching and I have never looked back!

Joined the Learn to Paint Academy last year and I have never stopped learning, thanks to a good teacher and mentor, Rod Moore!

After a life time of attempting to paint and only finding frustration and disappointment with my lone attempts along with failed art classes which only added to disappointment, I finally found Rod and his simple three step approach to painting i.e. three colours, three steps, three brushes.

I had umpteen shades of all colours, got myself into untold messes but after an on line challenge with the LTPA, I joined the many others who have succeeded with the LTPA and now painting is a pleasure.

I've even sold some which is such thrill and acknowledgement of my continuing growth as an artist.

This is my second challenge and I find Rod to be an excellent teacher. He makes it easy to have a successful outcome of your painting. His group is kind, helpful an encouraging. I have no complaints.

Thank you, Rod for this wonderful opportunity from thousand of miles away.

I started dabbling in paint about 6 years ago.

I discovered Rod and Learn to Paint Academy (LTPA) in 2020 and took up a Life Membership.

LTPA has given me a great base to advance my art. The Fundamentals courses in particular have been really helpful.

I enjoy the community aspect of LTPA and the knowledge that I'm not alone in the wilderness that is art.

Rod Moore's art lessons on line are fantastic for any level of artistic.

We all need the foundations in order to build on, and Rod has done this in a professional and enjoyable process.

The ability to review the videos are extremely helpful too.

I paint in Acrylic and paper so colours are less glossy but I still love them.

Since signing up in August 2020 as a Life Member, Rod’s simple but yet practical “Moore Method of Painting” has been a tremendous help to me in advancing my own style of painting.

As a previous water-colourist, I am now fairly confident in dabbling with several new mediums eg Gouache, Acrylics and Water Mixable Oil, all through Rod’s mentoring.

Rod is a very talented and generous teacher. His regular online challenges will definitely serve to inspire, motivate and push you on to do better in your personal art journey.

Importantly, I love his favourite saying - “Just Give It A Go! “ Yes, I do agree with him that trying is wining.

My favourite saying is - “Painting makes me happy. I am happy because I paint.” ( Author unknown)

I discovered Rod and the Learn to Paint Academy during lockdown and became a lifetime member. I had never had any art tuition, not even at school. So I was a complete beginner at 87. Unfortunately I was taken serious I’ll and was out of action for a year.

Thankfully that is all in the past and I am able to begin again. Rod and his "HAVE A GO" mantra have inspired me and I am beginning with this seascape challenge. I look forward to many more such challenges and learning a huge amount more from Rod's tuition.

Thanks Rod and all the amazing art community for your so much appreciated support.

The Moore Method of Painting has taken the fear away from tackling landscapes. I could paint various other subjects but landscapes were far to difficult… not any more!

The simple step by step approach has made me want to paint more landscapes rather than avoiding them altogether.

Thanks Rod.

Rod Moore is on a mission to show the world that ANYONE can learn how to paint, and I’m living proof that the Moore Method of Painting (MMOP) really works!

When I joined his Learn To Paint Academy in December, 2020, I knew very little about the fundamentals of painting. But in the 27 months that I’ve studied with Rod, my progress has been spectacular, according to my friends and family.

My paintings have got so good that folks are willing to pay good money for them, and I’ve actually exhibited in a gallery and been awarded a prize in a juried competition. That’s right; I'm an award-winning artist thanks to Rod!

The secret is to stop looking at a subject as a still life or a landscape, but instead see it as shapes and values (patterns of light and dark). Of course, it’s critical to get the composition correct, which is the first step in the MMOP. Do that by identifying the big shapes, then put them on the canvas in the right size and in the right location. Block in the values, and finally add color and details.

I’m so convinced that Rod’s method really works that I’ve started teaching other beginners how to paint using the Moore Method. It’s really so simple. Using just three brushes and a limited palette of three colors, the MMOP employs just three basic steps to create a beautiful painting. And what a joy it is to see my students’ smiling faces when they’ve completed their painting using the MMOP!

I have always wanted to paint and was browsing the internet when I came across Rod Moore "Learn to Paint Academy". He offered 3 free tutorial lessons and so I started not knowing what I was doing. His tutorials were very instructive and he started at the very beginning with brushes, paint and composition, so after completing these I joined.

Well what a great decision I made there were hundreds of lessons for me and he also had lessons on the basics, the fundamentals of painting, colour mixing, composition, values and lots lots more.

I started as a beginner and over time I was creating paintings and then I was selling them!! That was a Wow factor. I have sold paintings globally and I soon became an MCI (Moore Certified Instructor) and began running workshops.

Rod also started the ABA (Artists Business Academy) which teaches you all about becoming a professional artist. I am now doing a mentorship with Rod and my paintings have improved and are still improving, I am so pleased I discovered Rod.

My journey has been an exciting one and is not over yet. Thanks Rod for a great experience you are the BEST there is for teaching students how to paint.

I have done 2 challenges with Rod Moore and his method has opened up a whole new approach for me. I am 80 years old and live in Texas, USA. I have painted off and on with oils using the back to front method, which I like very much.

So, Rod is teaching light to dark and it is quite a bit different from what I am accustomed to. This method makes me more aware of what actually constitutes creation of good to great paintings.

In these two challenges, Rod has pointed out which darks to place where in the painting. and now I will need to make those decisions. This has been an awesome experience and I am grateful to Rod Moore for making these possible.

I look forward to joining Learn To Paint Academy (LTPA) and improving my God-given talent through the programs there.

God bless you, Rod, and your outreach.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with bladder cancer and began BCG treatments. I am so thankful that I had Rod Moore and painting lessons to keep me busy and focused on something other than myself.

Rod Moore's method has taught me to use a limited palette, how to mix these colors to make darks, mid tones, warm color , cool colors and how to compose a painting.

To start producing everyday and thinking about art not only as a hobby but as a way to make money. Thank you Rod and by the way my hair is more like Bob Ross than yours.

The hardest part of any journey is knowing where to start, where to take the first step.

The Rod Moore method makes it simple.

Cut through the complexity in front of you and break it down into simple shapes and colour values to create perspective and you are on your way to becoming an artist.

Practice will make progress.
